It seems like all the gurus who are making money online are making a killing. Earning $10,000 a month, $50,000, others 150,000 a month!

But how can you earn your first $100 online?

Glad you asked. I love answering those kinds of questions in detail.

I have compiled 19 ways to help you make your first $100 online. I believe that once a person has been able to attain that, they will stick around and treat internet jobs as decent hustles.

Let’s go!

  1. Kindle Publishing

Let’s start off with Kindle Publishing. This is best for people who can do proper research and write a book, or those who can think deep and write interesting fiction.

If you check out the Kindle category of Amazon, you’ll see that there are all sorts of books, ranging from historical books, to books on health and fitness, to ones on geopolitics to the ones that have those bare-chested hot-throbs – romance fiction books.

Generally, you will want to write a book that will appeal to readers and it is recommended that you write books that will offer some sort of solution to a pain, eg health and fitness category.

Again, the health and fitness category is really wide so you can niche down even further, and write a book related to senior’s health and fitness.

The good thing is even if you aren’t a good writer, you can always outsource and get a ghostwriter on sites such as Upwork. Simply tell the writer what the ebook will be about and they will do the rest. Don’t forget that you’ll need a great ecover for your ebook and you can hire someone from Fiverr to that effect.

The process of publishing your eBook on Amazon Kindle is pretty straightforward.

Simply set up a Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) account, upload your book, and set the price that you want to sell it at. Your book will then be available for sale in as little as 48 hours. Most Kindle publishers price their eBooks at between $0.99 at $9.99.

When someone buys your eBook, Amazon will pay you a 70% royalty for books priced between $2.99 to $9.99 and 35% for books priced between $0.99 to 200.

The good thing is that even after making your first $100, you will continue making passive income for as long as you keep the ebook on sale.

2.   Selling T-Shirts

T-shirts are a popular form of dressing. People are totally IN LOVE with well-designed T-Shirts, especially on a topic/subject they are passionate about, be it pets, parenting or some other hot topic. The market is huge and increasingly growing.

There are two important aspects to the t-shirt business. One is designing and the next is promotion.

If you create cool t-shirt designs, it will be much easier to promote them.

Facebook ads are a great way of promoting your t-shirts since you can expose them to a large audience and you can target a specific audience, for example, millennial girls, working moms, etc.

You can sell your products on sites like TeeSpring and Amazon Merch, among others.

If you have sold on Amazon before, or pushed t-shirts and realized how many customers you have access to, then you know how lucrative it can be.

T-shirts are just the beginning though. You can also consider selling coffee mugs, yoga pants, and flags.

3.   Shopify Dropshipping

Dropshipping is the process by which you find a product on an e-commerce site like AliExpress then sell it as your own for some profit.

Shopify is an eCommerce platform that can help you in this venture.

You need to identify some products then put them up in your Shopify shop. When someone pays for the item, you buy it from the e-commerce site then have it delivered to their address.

In this way, you make money by selling something that you don’t own, and it’s perfectly legal! I have written on the same with indepth details which you can find here: Shopify Dropshipping Tips and Tricks.

4.   Blogging

Blogging is my area of specialization and I highly enjoy it.

To blog, you need to choose a field (niche) that you will focus on, be it parenting, travelling, food blogging, etc.

Once you’ve got a good following, you can apply the many ways of monetizing your blog.

  • You can create and sell courses.
  • You can do sponsored posts
  • You can put ads on your blog. Some of the popular ad networks include MediaNet, Google Adsense, MediaVine and Adthrive.
  • Affiliate marketing will also make you some good cash.

5.  Earn Your First $100 Via Surveys

Surveys are one of the easiest ways to make money.

If you’re looking for fast and easy money, then surveys are the way to go. You’re not going to earn a full-time income in this way though, but you will make your first $100 online.

Also, surveys don’t need you to invest a lot of time and mental energy. This is because you might never have to research, write, or do anything that is time or energy consuming.

Rather, you just need to answer questions or give opinions about some things that you are asked.

The downside of surveys is finding genuine sites because there are a few scam sites out there.

But there are plenty of legit sites;  some that have been around for a looong time.

To start off, the tried and tested ones are:

6.  Become a Freelance Writer

Now, if you have the passion, skill or talent to deliver neat and creatively written content, then you better know that it can be turned into some money.

Freelance writers were some of the first freelancers to make money online. They also form a very large portion of the freelance industry.

Writing has many forms and styles that you can choose from. You can do blogs, ghostwriting, creative content, novels and so on.

It all depends on which shoe fits you best. Writing jobs can be found in sites like Upwork, Contena, the Problogger Job Boards and others.

7.  Get Cash Back Via Rakuten/Ebates

Rakuten/Ebates, founded back in 1998, affords you an opportunity to save some money via cash backs.

It has partnered with over 2,000 online companies so far in a business relationship.

It’s a simple relationship really – the stores that Rakuten has partnered with pay Rakuten a commission for sending customers their way.

Rakuten shares that commission with you, the customer, in form of a cash back.

And you do get CASH back. Not an e-certificate or points but real, hard cash. It is paid into your Paypal account or via check.

Rakuten is a must-try if you’re determined to taste your first $100.

You can also join Rakuten and refer your friends and family and get a thank you referral. Sweet huh?

Simply access the online store via Rakuten and Rakuten will refund anywhere from 2 to 30% of your purchase.

8.   Sell Photos Online

For those talented in the art of photography, it’s about time you converted that skill into money. If you’re sure you can get some good shots that are creative, you can sell them on multiple stock photo websites online.

There are dedicated stock photo selling sites where you can post your images for a commission per sale. I would recommend Shutterstock and Foap.

There are many more that you can try such as istockphoto and Fotolia.

9.   Become an Online Mock Juror

A mock juror is a work opportunity where lawyers hire people to act like a real-life court demographic. They take the mock jury through all court processes in preparation for the actual court sessions.

Lawyers will post a case summary and verdict questions with the option of having 25 or 50 jury-eligible people like you, review the case facts and provide feedback on the case issues.

Thanks to technology, this job can be done online. There are many sites that claim to do this but when I took a look at them, they had a very unprofessional look. However, onlineverdict.com is recommended.

Some of their requirements are:

  • You need to be a US citizen.
  • Must be over 18 years.
  • Must complete a juror profile (you’ll be filling in info like your date of birth, marital status, ethnicity, etc)

Payment ranges from $20 to $60 to review a single case. See how you can earn $100 with this gig?

10. Start a YouTube Channel

A YouTube Channel is an interesting way to make your first $100.

Videos are some of the most utilized form of multimedia in the world today. Now, you can capitalize on this wave and make yourself some serious dollars.

In a recent Forbes revelation, it was stated that in the period June 2016 to June 2017, the top 10 best YouTubers collectively earned $127 million!

To earn, you need to choose a niche and post regular videos that your audience will love.

If you give your channel time to grow, you will start getting paid for ads shown by YouTube in your videos. You will also earn from sponsored posts (videos) by organizations and/or individuals.

It used to be very easy to monetize a YouTube channel but from January 2018, YouTube adopted some new rules.

You now need to have 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours before you can even think of monetizing your channel.

Still, if you’re uploading great content that is informative or entertaining, you’ll be able to reach that threshold in no time.

11.   Sell Digital Products

A quick and easy method to make your first $100 online would be through selling digital products. These are “soft” items that you can sell online and the buyer will only need to download them.

There are tons of items that you can sell. Personally, I know of two (though there thousands out there). The first is that you can sell ebooks on the SendOwl website. Second, you can create ecourses and sell them on the Teachable site.

This method is simple and will act as a form of passive income for a long time.

Sign up on Teachable here and create your ecourse.

12.   Build Apps

With almost three-quarters of the world now owning smartphones, creating and selling apps can be a decent income channel.

The challenge in this method is that you need some coding or programming knowledge. If you’re a geek, I mean techy, then this a field that you will definitely enjoy.

Think about the apps that people are most likely to need. How about weight loss? Maybe password managers? Create an app that will share online work ideas.

You will make money in two ways. First by selling the apps and second by making them free then monetizing them via ads.

When the user has downloaded the free app, they will most likely click on the ads and you’ll then get paid by the advertiser.

 13. Start a Membership Site

Did you know that Facebook began as a simple membership site? Well, you can replicate the idea, but be innovative and come up with something that isn’t offered by existing sites.

You can create a community using a blog or even existing sites like Facebook. What matters is the monetization approach that you use.

For instance, you can charge people for being members to your site, which must definitely offer something to them. You can try using your influence after creating your community to promote and sell products. The list is just endless. Think and act now!

14. Start a Podcast

Your first $100 online can come from podcasting. This is where you make some audio files available for download online. They can teach people something or can be any form of listening pleasure.

Just like any business, you need to find your niche, grow an audience then think about the monetization strategy.

A common monetization strategy with many podcasters is sponsorships. Once your podcast becomes popular, organizations and/or individuals might pay you to incorporate their advertisements or content within your podcasts.

I have also seen some podcasters who transcribe their podcasts and sell the transcripts on the site. It’s a form of premium content.

15. Amazon FBA

Amazon’s Fulfilled By Amazon, FBA, is a unique program whereby you send them something to sell.

They will package, market and sell it on your behalf to their billions of customers. From there, they deduct their commission and you get your pay. This takes about 2 weeks.

To make money, you can send them something that you don’t need at home. You can also buy from parties selling very cheaply, sending to Amazon, and earning from the FBA system.

16.  Become a Search Engine Evaluator

Google bots are highly intelligent but even so, Google needs human assistance from time to time.

Human evaluators are paid to test and help in improving the efficiency of search engines.

They are given images, videos, text and other forms of media to evaluate how search engines process them. From the responses they get, the search engines algorithms are refined to give even better/more accurate results.

You can find such gigs on sites such as mTurk and LionBridge.

17. Trade Cryptocurrency

Crypto is the latest excitement in the financial industry today.

The rise of new virtual currencies has enabled people to transact online without the need to keep uploading currencies that we’re used to.

You are probably familiar with popular cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.

If you possess trading acumen, you can make a business out of the high fluctuation rates of crypto.

If you can be able to tell when a crypto will increase in value, you can buy it and sell when there’s an increase in price.

Some of the popular crypto exchanges are Binance, CoinBase, and Local Bitcoin.

18. Selling Crafts on Etsy

Shout out to all you creative beings!

If you are the creative type who’s into making arts and crafts, then you can earn your first $100 online via the Etsy platform.

People buy gifts, clothes, home décor, souvenirs and lots of other unique goods from this website.

So, if you can make a unique product, how about you market it on Etsy?

Visit the site to get a glimpse of the items that you can create and sell there.

19. Teach English Online

Last but not least, people with a good command of the English language can now make money from the comfort of their homes.

They can sign up on one of the many websites that teach English to people from across the world.

In a post that I did in September 2018, I reviewed VIPKID, one of the most profitable English teaching websites in the world. This is a website where people sign up and get paid to teach English to Chinese youngsters.

It is an enjoyable task if you possess excellent oral and written English, and can become a highly-paying online job, seeing that on some sites, you can earn $8-10 an hour per class.

If you can get a good number of kids to teach, earning $100 a day will not be a huge challenge.

Final Words

I hope you’ve identified at least one method of making $100 online from my list of 19.

The thing to always remember is that there is no overnight money in most of these online ventures. You will need to be patient and determined.

However, a year from today, you will be patting yourself in the back, grateful that you didn’t give up when obstacles were trying to dissuade and discourage you.

I suggest you take up one or more forms of passive income and make your first $100 online!
