Outsourcing On Fiverr To Scale Your Business – Blog Outsourcing

Last updated on July 11, 2020

This article contains affiliate links, which means I may receive a small commission, at no extra cost to you, when you make a purchase!

Running a blog, managing your eCommerce store, selling your t-shirts online via Amazon Merch – I mean online entrepreneurs do so much, and there never seems to be enough time.

Even if we were to consider the blogger’s tasks: he needs to write great content, promote that content, come up with great images for Pinterest, fix a couple of WordPress issues here and there. It seems to never end.

Enter outsourcing.

Why outsource though? For one, you’re probably spending time on tasks that don’t require your total input and this is taking time from stuff that really matters. You’re spending time doing tasks that you hate, which are really not a good use of your time.

“But isn’t outsourcing just for the big boys.” I hear you say. “I don’t have that kind of budget.”

Luckily, outsourcing doesn’t have to be the kind of thing that breaks your bank.

However, not all internetpreneurs have fully embraced outsourcing. According to a survey conducted by Blogtyrant, only 8.3% of bloggers outsource their tasks.

Could it be because they assume it’s very expensive to do so?

In light of this, today we’re going to discuss one of the world’s most popular sites when it comes to outsourcing – Fiverr.com.

What is Fiverr?

Fiverr is a popular freelancing platform and derives its name from the word “Five” in that most gigs offered on the site cost $5.

However, $5 isn’t a fixed rate as most sellers will charge $20-50 (and even much more) depending on the speed of delivery and other add-ons.

You can find almost all types of gigs on Fiverr. I was amused to find sellers who state that they’ll write jokes for just $5, while others will cast a spell for the same amount. Watch out, husband stealers!

However, the platform is very popular with five types of gigs. These are:

Graphic Design

This entails the creation of visual elements such as logos, banners, flyers, posters, business cards, cartoons, adverts and so on. These visual elements (graphics) mostly use a combination of text and images.

Looking to get a good infographic designed? You’re in luck because you’ll definitely get a good designer on Fiverr. I have personally gotten great designers for my Kindle ebook covers.

I can personally recommend this seller as she designed several covers for me sometime back.

To save you the hustle of finding good sellers, here are some designers who have great reviews:

Scrollavezza – for infographic design.

Dianagrigore – for photoshop editing.

Pencilillness will draw a cartoon/ caricature for you.

Beldisegno – for t-shirt designs.

Content Writing

With this gig, freelancers are hired to create content such as press releases, ebooks and so on. You will good sellers on Fiverr who can write an awesome ‘about me/about us’ page for you.

The exact specifications vary from seller to seller, and there are differences in price, and amount of words to be written.

Under the same category, you can also find proofreading and editing jobs, with gigs ranging from proofreading of 1,500 words, to proofreading and editing of as much as 6000 words.

The price also ranges from as little as $5 to as much as $200. With proofreading and editing gigs that are priced lower, the sellers will usually do the basics: check for spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

For higher priced gigs, the seller will correct syntax and even provide feedback on your original content.

Writingarticle9– for proofreading and editing.

Jeffereyspivey will, in addition to proofreading and editing your article, provide critical feedback on your document.

WordPress and WordPress troubleshooting

WordPress is a popular content management system and powers almost 30% of all the sites online.

And truth be told, you will encounter some tech issues with WordPress every now and then, and if you aren’t too techy, you will most likely panic.

Those issues can be 404 errors, image issues, issues with your slider, speeding up your blog, putting up something on your sidebar, or the DREADED hacking of your site.

On Fiverr, you will find professionals who can help with setting up, managing and troubleshooting all this.

PS: Depending on your type of gig, a Fiverr worker might require the login details to your site. This is common if your work involves WordPress access, as it helps the freelancer understand your needs better and faster.

However, it’s better to be safe than sorry. It’s recommended that you create a separate WordPress account with limited privileges and no admin powers.

Also, before you implement any changes in your site, be sure to make a backup of it, plus your data.

Uixpider will, for between $5 and $95, fix WordPress issues on your site.

Mimranshahryar will, for between $25 and $400, do WordPress and WooCommerce customization on your site.

Social Media Promotion and Assistance

Social media is part and parcel of the internetpreneur’s growth strategy. But with all the social media platforms out there, where do you get the time to utilize these platforms to the fullest?

This is where a Fiverr seller comes in handy. If you have published a book on Kindle, you can use the services of a Fiverr freelancer, who can promote your book on relevant Facebook groups.

You can also get a week’s worth of Tweets that you can post to your Twitter audience while some even throw in some keyword/hashtag research

Other sellers can help set up a YouTube channel for you, while others will submit your site to directory submission sites. Don’t quite have the time to set up a Facebook ad? There are Fiverr sellers who can run a Facebook ad campaign for you.

Mymarketingpro – will setup and optimize a Facebook ad for you.

Robyncrystal will create custom tweets (using your website content) at between $10 and $30.

PS: Gigs that’ll help you get social media followers: Tis the era of influencer marketing. With this era comes a lot of pressure to prove to brands that you have a good following on social media. Why not just purchase some fake social media followers? Not so fast. This practice can get your social media accounts flagged and possibly suspended. Worst of all, they can destroy the credibility of your brand. Conclusion – stay away from such gigs.

Whiteboard Videos

Whiteboard videos have become increasingly popular in the last few years. Why? They are able to tell stories in an engaging way.

You’ve also noticed that the information you get from whiteboards is gradual – as the animator forms the images one after the other, so one is not overwhelmed with information, compared to text.

Actually, it is said that the brain responds to visuals faster than text, helping you to more easily remember stuff that you have learned.

There are plenty of Fiverr sellers who can create great whiteboard videos for you. A good number will create videos for you starting at $25-30. Others, due to their experience and ratings, are quite pricey, charging as much as $750.

Djyoung will create a whiteboard video animation for you, and include script writing and voiceovers.

Bnnmarketing will create a whiteboard animation (digital hand drawn) at between $30 and $100.

Alonercro, a video editor, will edit commercials, social media videos, webinars,  interviews, tutorials, product reviews, music clips, testimonials and more at between $25 and $125.

Some other popular Fiverr gigs that you can check out are:

Podcast editingJoelnorth will edit your podcast episodes in 24 hours.  This highly rated seller charges between $10-25.

Sganich will add intro’s and outro’s to your podcast, fix overall EQ, and do a myriad of other podcast tasks at between $10 and $40.

Voiceovers – Looking for someone to record a DEEP American voice for ya? Check out Dulcetresonance

Msshavonne will record a professional female voice over for you, for $5 per 100 words.

And Sharonleevoice, from the ‘laynd dan unda’ will record an authentic Australian voice over for you.

Stylishquotes Another seller that I have personally dealt with. I needed some inspirational business quotes for my Facebook page and he did a great job.

Paying For Services on Fiverr

The following are the payment options available to clients.

  • Credit/Debit Card, Apple Pay and PayPal

PS: Bitcoin used to be one of the payment methods but it has since been discontinued.

Fiverr Pro

In June 2017, Fiverr launched Fiverr Pro, a service that links clients with verified professional sellers who have proven track records.

As more and more clients visit Fiverr to purchase gigs, it became apparent that there were enterprise customers who were eager to buy bigger projects, thus the birth of Fiverr Pro.

This doesn’t mean that non-pro sellers are any inferior. You can find true gems there, too!

Fiverr Buyer Tips for Outsourcing The Smart Way

Is it worth the time and money?

Now, before you outsource your gig, make sure it is worth both the effort and time. To put it simpler – don’t use 300 words to explain a 100-word article that you need to be written. You could have done it yourself! Don’t outsource for the sake of it. Make sure the outsourcing is necessary and will add value to your life or work.

Spot a good worker easily

Speaking from personal experience, if a seller provides a very bright and colorful image that provokes you into hiring them but they don’t provide a detailed description of what they’re offering, that’s a red flag! Could very well be a tell-tale sign of bad workmanship. The same applies if the description is poorly written.

Reviews Reviews Reviews!

We all know the importance of reviews when purchasing products and/or services online. If a Fiverr seller has several 3.0 ratings, don’t expect great work from that worker. Read seller reviews and decode the pattern before hiring anyone.

Ask questions

When I want to hire a Fiverr seller but I’m kind of feeling 50/50 about it, I always contact them and ask them a couple of questions before hitting the “continue/gig” button.

I have learned that there is something about the way someone responds. If you get a non-person, non-detailed response, it is likely that you will be wasting your time and money on that freelancer.

If a seller takes longer than the average response time provided, it is likely that you will be very frustrated dealing with him or her.

I once hired a freelancer on Fiverr who worked on two of my ebook cover designs. She did a great job but  I was elated and frustrated at the same time.

Elated because the design she submitted was so awesome, but terribly frustrated because she took ages to respond to my messages.

Explore the site

As I mentioned earlier, Fiverr is a great place to outsource and there are several categories which have the most sellers. Let’s take graphic design as an example.

When looking for a designer, don’t just hire the first one that you see. Take some more time exploring to see if you can get even better deals.

Remember that there are sellers who will be new to Fiverr but that doesn’t mean that they are inexperienced in their particular field.

However, you might not want to do that when you need your project completed quickly.  In such cases, you can go for top-rated sellers or use Fiverr Pro. It will cost you a little more but it’ll save time and the vetting effort.

Set your standards

I would suggest that before going to look for workers on Fiverr, think on these issues:

  • Will you use top-rated sellers only?
  • Will you be comfortable trying out new (level 1) sellers?
  • How many reviews do you need to see?
  • Which rating best suits your demand?

Fiverr makes it very easy for you to find a suitable freelancer. Once you log in to the site and search for a certain category, you can further refine your search using the filters given.

More importantly, know what kind of work you will need help with. The site has lots to offer and without these “filters” you might find yourself wasting a lot of time on unnecessary stuff.

Be short and precise. What do you want?

Make it easy for the sellers as well. Be straight to the point on what you want. What information does the provider need from you so to serve you efficiently?

If you’re not sure, contact the identified sellers and ask them such questions. Be specific regarding what you want or don’t want in your gig. It helps them serve you faster and better.

Avoid Legal Problems

Let your designer understand that they must use images with commercial licenses only.

The issue of licenses is very crucial to bloggers and all users alike. Lest you get fined or banned by Google, consider purchasing or downloading the images yourself and sending them to the user.

Similarly, if you need an article written in US or UK English, let them know. It is better than asking for revisions.

Understand some mistakes

You’re aware that Fiverr is global. Therefore, some workers will be from countries where English isn’t a first language.

Some freelancers will have less than ideal English but their work is exemplary (excluding content writing work). I have especially noticed this with graphic designers.

Don’t let such shortcomings deter you from hiring a great freelancer, as long as you can generally understand each other.

Some Final Fiverr Super Tips

  • You can join the Fiverr Forum where buyers from all over the world meet up and engage.
  • Don’t ask Fiverr buyers for their contact information. That is against Fiverr’s TOS and your Fiverr buyer account will be suspended.
  • The customer support at Fiver is great considering the size of the network. If you ever need their assistance, try using Twitter where you will get a response in about 30 minutes. If you prefer email, they will respond in less than 3 hours.
  • There is a resolution center where buyers can resort to when either 1, the seller has been incommunicado for more than 24 hours after the order has been marked ‘Late’. However, there are other options that are recommended and you can find them here.
Disclaimer: I am not directly endorsing the gigs listed above (well, apart from the ones I’m directly endorsing!).
However, the sellers mentioned above have high-ratings and a great number of positive reviews.
I hope that the above tips will help you outsource on Fiverr the smart way!
