There are numerous people who want to become freelance writers. The truth is, there are good writers and there are great writers.  For the most part, a lot of readers appreciate reading an article that is energetic, well-researched, clear and yet simple to understand.

How can someone who wants to become a freelance writer achieve that? You start by learning; learning how to write well.

Every job, be it writing, transcribing, designing, coding and so on, has specific demands which the client requires. In the case of article writing, you don’t simply grab a topic, jot down a couple of words and submit it to the client.

You have to learn this craft. From grammar to punctuation, to formatting and more.

I have seen excellent writers who are unable to earn much out of their skill. Others seemingly survive, but never make any serious headway, professionally. Additionally, there are great writers who would love to earn more but they are simply unaware of where to find work online opportunities.

All of these traps can be attributed to lack of a clear map, or, better put, lack of training.

And that’s where Walter comes in. Walter Akolo, who has been a freelance writer since 2011, (a contributor to the Huffington Post. Also named as one of the five fastest rising entrepreneurs in Kenya) has created an awesome freelancing writing course designed to help you become a pro writer.

Instead of jumping from one blog to another, or from one forum to another looking for freelance writing advice, you can enroll in his course where he will lay it all out for you.

There are hundreds of writers who have benefitted from the course and are now top-rated freelancers.

Summarily, Walter’s freelance writing course will:

  • Guide you on how to write the best content for clients.
  • Show you how to set up payment and working accounts.
  • Direct you to where and how you can get the best clients, and
  • Show you how to make passive income by writing eBooks, amongst other multiple expert tips.

Free Writing Course

The first part of the course is absolutely free and is subdivided into three parts.

The first part provides you with an overview of how a good article is formatted. Walter also talks about keywords, different forms of articles, basic terminology used in article writing and how to improve your researching skills.

The second part is aimed at protecting you from scammers. Walter will show you how to choose the best sites to work for, and how to spot legit clients.

In the final part of the freebie, Walter shows you how you can receive payments. In this part, Walter talks, at length, about the major forms of payment such as Skrill, Payoneer and PayPal.

After this informative introduction, you can proceed to the second part of the course.

This is where the meaty part begins. This part is not free; you need to pay $30 for full access.

This will allow you to access the full course, and open a direct channel of communication with Walter. You’ll also get tons of helpful material which includes videos.

Above all, Walter will provide one-on-one assistance for a period of 30 days.

What exactly does this second part entail?

Writing Guidelines

Every freelancing task has a standardized format of presentation which needs to be followed. In this section, Walter takes you through every stage of composing good articles.

First off, he talks about the title of an article (also called the headline) This is a key determinant of whether your reader will want to read the rest of the article or not.

He shares tips on how long the title should be, how to use catchy words that will attract the reader, and how to ensure the title summarizes the whole article, ie, gives a clue on what the article is about.

Most articles are driven or are based on what we call keywords. A keyword is used to decide what the article will be about.

As such, a client might just give you a keyword, or several keywords and ask you to write an article based on them. How do you go about it? Where do you place the keywords? All of this tips are in this freelance writing course.

Next, Walter delves into the introduction part of the article. If you lose your reader in the introduction part, it is likely that they will not be motivated to read the rest of the article.

He gives tips on how you can introduce the reader to the subject matter of the article without giving everything away. The details, in form of informative content, are presented in the body of the article.

The final part of an article is the conclusion. In this part, you sum up the content of the body and end the article with what is called a “call to action.” How do you write a powerful conclusion? Walter shares those tips in his course.

Unique Cold-pitching

Blogging

Blogging is another context in the freelancing world with unlimited earning capabilities. You can make money by writing for others, or, better still, write for self. The latter is less popular but has the highest earning potential, compared to writing for others.

The beauty of writing is that you don’t have to actively do it to earn money online. You can also write virtual books (eBooks) and sell them online. We call this passive income.

The other thing is that, unlike other courses where after purchasing a course, the content is sent to you robotically, Walter’s course includes assignments. This way, any areas of weakness will be revisited to ensure you get maximum benefits from the study.
